APRIL 12th THE PALM AIRE WOMEN’S CLUB WILL AWARD SIX SCHOLARSHIPS TO DESERVING LOCAL STUDENTS.

"Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend" broke all PAWC records!!

The Palm Aire Women’s Club, thanks to the generous contributions of its members, will continue its long tradition of awarding annual scholarships to deserving local students. Four 2-year scholarships will be awarded to State College of Florida students. Additionally, two scholarships will be given to Manatee Technical Institute students. Each student must attend school full-time and remain in good academic standing. The recipients and their mentors will be honored at the April 12th luncheon. This luncheon is an extremely important one, since the 2018/2019 PAWC board will also be elected. Make sure you attend so your voice will be heard.

Attendees will be entertained during the event by The State College of Florida Chamber Choir directed by Ms. Melodie Dickerson. This is the same choir, you will remember, that was chosen to accompany Ms. Susan Boyle when she performed at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall during her first U. S. tour. Luncheon reservations are $25.00. Send checks to PAWC, PO Box 21051, Bradenton, FL 34204. For further information, contact Barbara Link.

The PAWC "Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend" Gala Fashion Show and Luncheon proved to be truly spectacular! Co-chairs Kim Lege and Ivonne Cardona worked tirelessly to ensure that all went smoothly. More than 200 men and women filled the room, coming together to raise funds in support of scholarships and local charities.

The Gala kicked off with emcee Jim Shirley distributing prizes to lucky winners and continued with our glamorous models showing off Dillard’s latest styles. The fashions were expertly modeled by Melodie Dickerson, Andrea Knies, Sarasota Chief of Police Bernadette DiPino, Kathleen Allen, Dodie Shuert and Katherine Pike. The styles were highlighted with sparkling bling and the sound of chiming champagne glasses. It was a day where everyone channeled their inner Marilyn Monroe. Chief DiPino even brought her own special accessory, a pair of sparkling handcuffs!

The guests enjoyed the opportunity of showing off their own bling, winning fabulous prizes and receiving complementary mini-makeovers and gift bags from Lancome’s Terry Dodd, Jamie Parigi, Jenny Smith and Lori Hemelberger. Jen Allen, from Stella and Dot, offered jewelry styling ideas.

Whilst all enjoyed the event, everyone was here for two important reasons; raising money for scholarships and local charities. This is exactly why the Fashion Show Committee put so much effort and hard work into making ‘Diamonds’ the most successful and glamorous women’s event on the Sarasota events calendar.

Many thanks to Jim Shirley from the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota for hosting the night, Debbie Palmer from Dillard’s for providing the fashions, and Lux-Art and Dodie Shuert for the magnificent table centerpieces. Special thanks are also owed to Affordable Attorney, Unique Stone USA, Kathleen DeStefano CPA, One 11 South, Graphic Designs by Stephanie Rivera and Divine Hair Creations.
