WHAT A YEAR!!! WHAT A SEASON!!!!

The unstoppable Palm Aire Women’s Club eagerly awaits an exciting new season.

The PAWC has reason to celebrate. Undeterred by the global pandemic which caused the cancellation of in-person luncheons and fundraisers, club members managed to circumvent the virus. They learned to zoom around the internet and meet virtually. They used virtual fundraising to furnish deserving SCF students with needed scholarships. In addition to providing scholarships, generous members also donated supplies to help families in need.

The PAWC has been in existence for 63 years and the club refused to let the pandemic bring it to an end. This organization began with a small group of women who wanted to help the community and socialize with friends. They became the De Soto Lakes Women’s Club. They obtained a state charter, elected a president, (Frances Briddon), and adopted by-laws. This original group joined forces with like-minded women from the Palm Aire Country Club. When the Palm Aire Country Club offered them space for meetings, they changed the name to The Palm Aire Women’s Club. The rest is history.

The PAWC was founded to help others and make a significant difference in their lives. Over the years this club has used its fundraising skills to aid local charities as well as provide scholarships to deserving students.

Working together to achieve common goals has also helped members to find and keep friends. Ask any of the 150 members.

Today the PAWC is still going strong. President Debi Frock’s goal is to continue the mission and achievements of the past 63 years.

The PAWC Gala Fashion Show is slated for Friday, February 11, 2022. Back by popular demand, Dillard’s will return and showcase more of their fabulous fashions. As usual, this event will take place at the Palm-Aire Country Club. Vice President Susan Romine has been working in the summer heat to plan additional events to make next seasons’ meetings memorable. Broadway plays and ballet performances are some of her exciting highlights.

The Mix and Mingle events are extremely popular and have led to many new members. Each month, members take turns hosting other members, potential members and guests. These events continue during the summer months. It’s a great way for present and future members get acquainted. At the end of May, out-going president Carolann Garafola hosted an in-person mix and mingle at her lovely home. Incoming president Debi Frock, with the help of the delightful Indiana Jones, held one in June. Everyone is guaranteed a wonderful time. Don’t miss the next one. Please check emails for dates and times.
