PAWC FASHION SHOW MOVED TO FEBRUARY!

CARD AND GAME PARTY WILL TAKE PLACE IN NOVEMBER.

Please mark your calendars! This season’s upcoming PAWC Fashion Show is now scheduled for Friday, February 10, 2017. The event of the year, traditionally held in early November, has been changed to February in order to accommodate our members, since many do not arrive until after Thanksgiving. The fashion show has switched places with the popular card and game party which will now take place on November 11, 2016. As usual, these events will take place at the Palm-Aire Country Club. Please remember to save both dates!

It is with regret that we announce that former President Melanie Brokaw, due to her relocation to Aiken, South Carolina, has resigned from the PAWC. Melanie was an outstanding president who worked diligently to increase membership and charitable contributions. She established the Mix and Mingle and Holly Jolly events. She also chaired the most successful fashion show in club history. We would like to thank Melanie for all her accomplishments over the years. Many club members and friends gathered together at Evie’s to wish her well. She will definitely be missed.

This past season has been an exciting and productive one for the PAWC. The “La Belle Femme” fashion show, chaired by Dodie Shuert and Candice Frandsen, wowed the audience with wearable fashions presented by Daisy Cotton. The show totally exceeded expectations by producing more than $8,400 for charity.

The annual book sale (chaired by Sandy Ciampa) and the Card, Game and Make-up Party (chaired by Patti Hernandez) were also notable fundraising events. Everyone had a wonderful time and the charities were the real winners, since more than $3,000 was added to our charities’ fund.

The second annual Holly Jolly fundraiser was held at Sally Reed’s lovely home and managed to generate almost $2,500 for the club’s charitable endeavors. Guests were serenaded by “medieval troubadours” and many went home with holiday selfies taken in the PAWC selfie booth.

During the January luncheon, members received Latin dancing lessons which they practiced and performed under the guidance of Sarasota’s Dynasty Dance Club. February’s luncheon featured the latest make-up trends demonstrated by Bobbi Brown Reps. In March, attendees practiced improvisational skills taught by Will and Steve from the Florida Studio Theatre. In addition, all competed in the first annual ugly sweater and Spring bonnet contests. Fun times were had by all.

Even though this very successful season is over, the PAWC has not shut down for the summer. The new board is already diligently planning exciting events to make next season even more memorable.

Membership has also been growing by leaps and bounds. This year alone, the PAWC added more than 50 new members. The Mix and Mingle events have become more and more popular and have led to even more active new members. They are continuing during the summer months. It’s a great time for future members to come and get acquainted. Don’t miss the next one. Please check emails for dates and times.

Our 'Mix and Mingle' gatherings are growing more popular every month. Don’t miss the fun. Everyone is guaranteed a wonderful time. It’s also a great time for new and old members to get acquainted. Don’t miss the next one. Please check emails for dates and times.

Remember, the PAWC usually meets on the second Friday of the month at 11AM from October to May. Membership is open year round and is not limited to Palm Aire Country Club members. For information, contact chairperson, Cecelia Massey. Dues are now $40 yearly.
