SIXTY YEARS AND STILL GOING STRONG!
THIS YEAR THE PALM AIRE WOMEN’S CLUB RAISED MORE THAN $20,000 FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND CHARITY.

The PAWC’s generous members enabled the club to offer grants to seven local charities in need of funding. The Charity Committee, headed by Peg Beck, selected small, independent charities that profoundly affect our community.

Representatives from the chosen organizations: Sandy Slaminko ( Baby Basics), Alice Faye Jones and Dee Webber (Brothers & Sisters Doing the Right Thing), Charles Shortridge, (Brotherhood of Men Mentor Group), Victoria Brown and Renee Dinkins (Dollar Dynasty), Mary Ann Legler and Sarah Averbeck (Healthy Teen Coalition), Ann Taylor ( Hearing Loss Association) and Elaine Steinfurth (Mothers Helping Mothers) attended the May luncheon and gratefully received checks which allow them to continue helping those in need.

These charities are the reason the PAWC came into to existence 60 long years ago. All money raised by the PAWC flows back into the community in the form of scholarships or grants to local charities.

The May luncheon was illuminated with a return to tradition and elegance to celebrate the six decades of the PAWC. The new board members were installed during an impressive candlelit ceremony conducted by former President Peg McKinley. Michelle Crabtree led off, lighting a red candle to symbolize her office as President and leader of the Palm Aire Women’s Club. Board members, Carmen McAllister, Kim Lege, Susan Romine, and Ivonne Cardona followed. Each lit a different color candle to symbolize their office and responsibilities. This impressive ceremony served as a reminder of the long history of the club and demonstrated that its ideals remain unchanged. Congratulations to the newly installed officers and a very special thank you to the outgoing officers for a job well done.

Our "Mix and Mingle” gatherings are growing more popular every month and will continue throughout summer. Don’t miss the fun. Everyone is guaranteed a wonderful time. It’s also a great time for new members to get acquainted. Don’t miss the next one. Please check emails for dates and times.

Remember, the PAWC meets on the second Friday of the month at 11 AM from October to May. Membership is open year-round and is not limited to Palm Aire Country Club members. For information, contact chairperson, Cecelia Massey. Dues are $40 yearly.
