ANOTHER BREAKING YEAR! THE PAWC RAISED MORE THAN $20,000 FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND CHARITY.

A CANDLELIT CEREMONY HIGHLIGHTED THE INSTALLATION OF THE 60TH PAWC BOARD.

The PAWC’s generous members enabled the club to offer grants to six local charities in need of funding. The Charity Committee selected small, independent charities that profoundly affect our community.

Victoria Brown, in particular, impressed the audience. She described how her charity filled food baskets, arranged summer programs for at risk children and ensured that no one in need was turned away. She has dedicated her life to helping those in need. She epitomizes the charities the PAWC was established to support. Remember, all the money raised by the PAWC flows back into the community in the form of scholarships or grants to local charities.

Patti Sue Peotter-Bettes , the charity chair, introduced representatives from the chosen organizations: Alice Faye Jones (Brothers & Sisters Doing the Right Thing) , Charles Sortridge and D. Franklin (Brotherhood of Men Mentor Group), Victoria Brown (Dollar Dynasty), Felicia Sesty and Flor Ziomara (Healthy Teen Coalition), Marilyn Cox (Manatee Literacy Council) and Shavonne Simon (Truly Valued Inc.). Each representative passionately described how their charity impacts and makes a difference in the community

The May luncheon was illuminated with a return to tradition and elegance to celebrate Sixtieth anniversary of the PAWC. The new board members were installed during an impressive candlelit ceremony conducted by Doris McCowen. Patti Hernandez led off, lighting a red candle to symbolize her office as President and leader of the Palm Aire Women’s Club. Board members, Susan Romine, Judy Bouchard, Kim Lege and Janice Scanlon followed, each lighting a different color candle symbolizing their offices and responsibilities. This impressive ceremony served as a reminder of the sixty years of the club and demonstrated that its ideals remain unchanged.
