APRIL 17TH THE PALM AIRE WOMEN’S CLUB WILL AWARD SIX SCHOLARSHIPS TO DESERVING LOCAL STUDENTS.

Melodie Dickerson and The State College of Florida Chamber Choir will perform at the scholarship luncheon.

The Palm Aire Women’s Club, thanks to the generous contributions of its members, will continue its long tradition of awarding annual scholarships to deserving local students. Four 2-year scholarships will be awarded to State College of Florida students. Additionally, two scholarships will be given to Manatee Technical Institute students. Each student must attend school full-time and remain in good academic standing. The recipients and their mentors will be honored at the April 17th luncheon. This luncheon is an extremely important one, since the 2020/2021 PAWC board will also be elected. Make sure you attend so your voice will be heard.

Attendees will be entertained during the event by The State College of Florida Chamber Choir directed by Ms. Melodie Dickerson. This is the same choir, you will remember, that was chosen to accompany Ms. Susan Boyle when she performed at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Luncheon reservations are $27.00. Send checks to PAWC, PO Box 21051, Bradenton, FL 34204. For further information and to confirm your reservation, contact Judi Bouchard.

The PAWC "Women with Passion" Fashion Show and Luncheon proved to be truly spectacular! Co-chairs Pattie Meades and Michelle Crabtree worked tirelessly to ensure that all went smoothly. Almost 200 filled the room, all coming together to raise funds in support of scholarships and local charities.

The Gala kicked off with emcee Jim Shirley setting the tone and continued with Dillard’s’ Debbie Palmer describing the latest fashions worn by our glamorous models. The fashions were expertly modeled by Vanessa Baugh, Stacy Cole, Nancy Curley, Melodie Dickerson, Carmen McAllister, Doris McCowen, Donna Moon and Olga Ovchiyan. Olga brought along her own pint-sized escort, her young son. The styles were highlighted with sparkling bling and the sound of chiming champagne glasses. It was a day where everyone channeled their inner Marilyn Monroe.

The guests enjoyed the opportunity of showing off their own bling, winning fabulous prizes and receiving complimentary gift bags from Lancome’s.

Whilst all enjoyed the event, everyone was here for two important reasons: raising money for scholarships and local charities. This is why the Fashion Show Committee put so much effort and hard work into making "Women with Passion" the most successful and glamorous women’s event on the Sarasota events calendar.

Many thanks to Jim Shirley from the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota for hosting the night, Debbie Palmer from Dillard’s for providing the fashions, Elena of Evaniss for the hairstyles, Palmer Orchids for special pricing on the magnificent table centerpieces, Tina Seger for designing our artwork and Sarasota Honey Co for providing our complimentary valet parking. Special thanks are also owed to Lazy Lobster, Kacey’s Seafood, Affordable Attorney, Kathleen DeStefano CPA, Michelle Crabtree Realtor, and to the Fashion Show Committee and Volunteers.

We would not be able to enjoy this evening and raise the necessary funds for our scholarships and charities without the incredible support and kindness of our sponsors. Thanks to the following PAWC sponsors who helped make this event an outstanding success: AMF Bowling, Apollonia, Artist Series Concerts, Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota, Beyond Design, Boatyard Restaurant, Bowtox Boutique, CB’s Saltwater Outfitters, CineBistro, Connors Restaurant, Debbie Frock, Dillard's, Dutch Valley Restaurant, Florida Studio Theatre, Jain Jewelers, Kacey's Seafood, Key Sailing, Lancome, Lux Art Silks, Massage Envy, Mattison’s, Michael’s on East, Morton's Market, Palm Aire Golf Pro Shop and Tennis Center, Rex Willis, Rosemary Restaurant, Sarasota Orchestra, Sea Cup and Up, Siesta Key Rum, Sarasota Honey Co., Spa Hollywood, The Women’s Exchange, The Lazy Lobster, The Players Center for Performing Arts, Urbanite Theatre, Van Wezel Performing Arts and Vanessa Fine Jewelry.
