PATTIE HERNANDEZ TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE PALM AIRE WOMEN'S CLUB.

The PAWC Book, Bag, Scarf and Jewelry Sale broke all previous records!

The last meeting of the season is shaping up to be one you will not want to miss. At the May 11th luncheon, the winners of the PAWC 2018 grants will be named and introduced. Chairwoman Patti Sue Peotter-Bettes and her committee have selected small, independent charities that truly make a difference in our community. Last year’s grant recipients were: Brotherhood of Men Mentor Group, Brothers and Sisters Doing the Right Thing, Dollar Dynasty, Healthy Teens Coalition of Manatee County, Joy Sarasota, Last Chance Animal Sanctuary and Mothers Helping Mothers.

The Palm Aire Women's Club recognizes the valuable work these organizations accomplish in assisting the community and is proud to assist them. Nonprofit charities depend upon donations to continue their work in caring for the less fortunate. It is inspiring to be able to support the critical work these organizations are doing on behalf of those in need.

Also at this luncheon, the 2018/2019 PAWC board will be installed in a traditional candlelit ceremony. The officers for the 2018/2019 Executive Board are: President– Pattie Hernandez, Vice President- Susan Romine, Recording Secretary- Judy Bouchard, Corresponding Secretary- Kimberly Lege and Treasurer– Janice Scanlon. This impressive ceremony serves as a reminder of the long history of the club and demonstrates that its ideals remain unchanged.

Mail your luncheon reservation checks for $24.00 to the PAWC, in care of Barbara Link, P O Box 21051, Bradenton FL 34204. Please contact Barbara to confirm your reservation.

Palm Aire was asked, in the words of Bob Seger, "just take all those old books off the shelf and come and bring them in to help someone else.” PAWC member, Debbie Kimball, took that request to heart and donated her entire library. Because of this donation and many others, the Book, Bag, Scarf and Jewelry Sale was a resounding success and broke all previous records. Co-chairs, Barbara Link, Sammy Ulbrick and Sandy Ciampa deserve many thanks for all the time and effort they put in to ensure the success of this event.

Celebrated Manatee author and historian, Cathy Slusser, was the guest speaker at the March Luncheon. Cathy is the author of a three-book series, FROM A HEAVENLY LAND. Cathy spoke passionately recounting the true, inspiring stories of early Florida women pioneers. All present were enthralled with the seldom-told stories of our town's early pioneers.

Our 'Mix and Mingle' gatherings are growing more popular every month. Don’t miss the fun. Everyone is guaranteed a wonderful time. It’s also a great time for new and old members to get acquainted. Don’t miss the next one. Please check emails for dates and times.

Remember, the PAWC usually meets on the second Friday of the month at 11AM from October to May. Membership is open year round and is not limited to Palm Aire Country Club members. For information, contact chairperson, Cecelia Massey. Dues are now $40 yearly.
